Doubling windowClick here to receive an explanation of the doubling cube.If you stay ahead in a match, it is sometimes worth to double. It is important, however, that you wait for the correct time. If you have only a small lead and you double, the risk is too high that your opponent catches up and doubles again then. On the other hand, you may not wait until you have a too big lead, because then your opponent will probably reject the doubling, and you miss the chance on a Gammon or a Backgammon. If no more contact is possible between your checkers and those of your opponent, you are to double, if you lie in front with 8-11% in pips, with a renewed doubling with 9-12%. In some situations you are always to double: 1. If you survived a match point, you are to always double in the play thereafter. 2. If you accepted a doubling which makes it possible for your opponent to win, you are to double again immediately. Ex. 1. If one reached the match point, MP, (only one point is missing for a player in order to win the match - e.g. it stands 16 to 12 in a 17-points-Match), you may not double in the next game. If the player loses this game then (score now e.g. 16 to 13), it may be doubled again, which you should always do if you lie behind in the match. After all, it plays no role whether you lose the match 17 to 13 or e.g. 20 to 13. Ex. 2. You lay behind in a match to 17 with 15 to 12. If your opponent doubles and you accept the doubling, then you should double again immediately. If you lose the game then, you likewise lost it anyway. Beavers With the Money Game, the possibility of playing with Beavers exists. Beaver is a regulation, which means that a doubled player may immediately double back and remain also still in the possession of the duplication cube. Thereafter, it is up to the player who doubled first whether he accepts or rejects the renewed doubling.
