The doubling cube

You can choose yourself to play with or without the doubling cube. For beginners we recommend to play without it first. The doubling cube is not used as a real cube, and it only affects the value of the match. If you estimate your chances of winning larger than your opponent’s, you can offer a doubling of the play value to him, by giving him the doubling cube before your throw. He/she can either accept or reject the doubling. If he/she rejects it, he/she has lost the match. If the player accepts the doubling, the value of the match (equal the stakes) is doubled, and the player now has the possibility of doubling again. As soon as a player doubled, the cube goes to the opponent. Thus the same player cannot double twice in a row.

Backgammon dobling

If your opponent doubles also and you accept it, the match value is doubled again and amounts now altogether to the quadruple value. With your acceptance of the doubling you now the exclusive right to renew the doubling offer. If you reject the doubling, however, you lose the game and thus the double value of the game (2 points). The doubling cube affects a Gammon and a Backgammon also, and the play value can increase correspondingly very much.
