Checkers on the bar
If your opponent’s checkers are moved or stopped on a position on which you only have one single checker sitting (also called a Blot), your checker is beaten and put on the bar.
This means that your checker must be brought back completely from the front in the home field of your opponent in the play. This happens with your next move. If you threw for example a 2 and a 1, as represented in the picture, you can (must) use the checker on position 24 only, since position 23 is occupied by 2 brown checkers. A player who has a checker standing on the bar is not allowed to move any other checker, as long as the checker standing on the bar is not assigned again. If this checker cannot be brought back in the play your move is over without you having moved any checker, and it is your opponent’s turn. This would be the case if your opponent had occupied both position 24 and 23.
